The City of Platte and the Platte-Geddes School District election will be held on Tuesday, April 14th, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Community Building in Platte for the joint city/school board election and at the American Legion Building for the school board election in Geddes.
Absentee voting may begin on Monday, March 30th. In person absentee voting may be done at the City Finance Office for the city election between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and at the Business Office at the Platte-Geddes High School for the school board election between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The last day for in-person absentee voting at the city office or school business office is Monday, April 13th at 5:00 p.m.
Absentee voting may also be requested by mail. To do so, please contact the respective business office to request an absentee ballot application. After the application is received, a voting kit will be mail to the voter. Once the voter has completed the ballot it must be returned to the city office or school business office and be received by the city finance officer or school business official before the polls close on election day.
Due to COVID-19 and the high demand for absentee voting material, there is a limited supply of absentee forms. The city and school will do their best to accommodate voters who request the forms however please keep in mind that supplies are limited.
Election workers will be taking extra precautions at the polling places this year for the safety of the voters.
