Students at Platte-Geddes School District are getting a firsthand look at the future of transportation through hands-on work with electric vehicle technology. Thanks to funding from a Workforce Education Grant, the district purchased Switch Electric Vehicles that students are now using as part of their learning experience.
Through this project, students are exploring the rapidly growing field of electric vehicle (EV) technology by assembling and working with the Switch vehicles. The program allows students to learn about electrical systems, battery technology, engineering concepts, and modern automotive design while applying classroom knowledge in a real-world setting.
The hands-on approach helps students build valuable technical skills while also exposing them to career opportunities in advanced manufacturing, automotive technology, and clean energy industries.
District leaders say the project reflects Platte-Geddes School District’s commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers through innovative, career-focused learning experiences.
As students continue working on the vehicles throughout the school year, they will gain practical skills and a deeper understanding of the technology shaping the future of transportation.
