"Hats for Houston"
On Thursday, March 3, 2022 as part of our FFA week, we are requesting that everyone wear a "Hat for Houston". Houston is a 2020 PGHS graduate and was recently diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy, which is a kidney disease. He is currently receiving dialysis until he is given a new kidney. We are asking for a suggested donation of $2 which will be given directly to Houston and his family.
A team of four teachers and myself attended the National ESEA Conference last week in New Orleans, LA. We represented Platte-Geddes Elementary as a National Distinguished School from South Dakota. Here are a few photos from our trip....

Changes to Region 6B Girls' Basketball Game:
The girls region basketball game with Burke has been moved to Thursday with a 7:00 pm start time. The winners will then play in Mitchell on Saturday. Times are tentatively set at 4:00 and 6:00.
Platte-Geddes Schools will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22. There is no Half-Day Kindergarten and the Geddes bus leaves promptly at 9:15.

National School Counselor Week.....
This week, February 7-11 is National School Counselor's Week. The theme this year is "Better Together". And we truly are "Better when working Together"! We might be biased, but we feel we have the very best elementary school counselor around in Mrs. Kristen Konechne! Here are a few photos of her working together with our students, staff members, and administration.
Each day this week we celebrated a different "Better Together" theme.....Monday was "Better Together when school counselors work with students"; Tuesday was Better Together when school counselors work with administrators"; Wednesday was Better Together when school counselors work with teachers". Thank you to Mrs. Kristen Konechne for being the BEST!!
*The Elementary Honors Choir Concert will be held in Brookings on Thursday, February 10. Students attending from Platte-Geddes School District include: Aiden Boltjes, Britton Nachtigal, Brynn Meyerink, Chloe Fite, Dixsea Voetberg, Hayden Strand, Kamryn Brondsema, Lillian Norden, Miley Larson. Congratulations to these nine attendees and best of luck in Brookings! Here are a few photos from our send-off yesterday. The students sang us a song and walked through our hallway as we wished them good luck!
*Congratulations to our local spelling bee winners who will represent Platte-Geddes Elementary at the Missouri Valley Regional Spelling Bee in Gregory this year. They are, 1st Graders: Jace Antonsen and Corbin Bogenhagen; 2nd Graders: Braylynn Schoenrock and Murphy Nachtigal; 3rd Graders: Karsin Kramp and Oakley DuFrain; 4th Graders Lizzy Groon and Teddy Duffy; 5th Graders: Norris Maydew and Danni Schuman; and 6th Graders Owen Feiok and Remmington Meyerink. (Not Pictured Are: Norris Maydew, Owen Feiok, and Remmingron Meyerink) The MV Spelling Bee will be held on February 23, 2022.
